Cpl Richard Andrew Farrer

Cpl Farrer served his country honorably for four years, 2004-2008, learning the skills of a basic infantry machine gunner.  He had three tours of duty: Karmah, Iraq 2005; Ramadi, Iraq 2006; and aboard the USS Kearsarge on the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit 2007-2008. In his last years of service, he was a Training NCO and police sergeant for 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, an infantry unit out of Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. A decorated Marine, Farrer’s awards include GWOTE, GWOT, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Humanitarian Assistance Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2 stars), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Navy Unit Citation Ribbon.

Farrer has devoted his life after active-duty service to supporting veterans coping with mental health and substance abuse issues, and to spiritual causes as an ordained minister, as represented by the following:
  • Irreverent Warriors leadership, 2018-2021.
    Brought veterans together to improve mental health and prevent veteran suicide.
  • Quartermaster VFW 4575, 2020-2021. All American Quartermaster.
    Helped his post achieve 100% membership.
  • Board member, Veterans to Recovery, 2020-2022.
    Helped veterans in recovery who suffer from the disease of alcoholism and substance abuse.
  • Ordained Minister, American Marriage Ministry, 2018 - present.
  • Leader in the Middle Tennessee AA community.
  • Volunteer, Room in the Inn, Christ Church Cathedral, Nashville, TN. Coldest Nights, Murfreesboro, TN.
