As part of the yearlong celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation brought the story of the Marines to hometown ballparks across the country this summer. Through a series of Minor League Baseball (MiLB) takeover nights, fans experienced an unforgettable blend of America’s pastime and the proud traditions of the Corps.

A Season of Celebration

From the first pitch to the last inning, each event shined a spotlight on the Marines’ enduring legacy of honor, courage, and commitment. Families, veterans, and baseball fans alike had the chance to engage with Marines in their own communities while celebrating 250 years of service and sacrifice.

The tour spanned coast to coast, making stops at:

  • April 6 – Hartford Yard Goats

  • May 7 – Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp

  • May 25 – Reno Aces

  • June 1 – Arkansas Travelers

  • July 5 – Rochester Red Wings

  • July 19 – Norfolk Tides

  • July 31 – Springfield Cardinals

  • August 1 – Iowa Cubs

  • August 15 – Tulsa Drillers

  • August 24 – Corpus Christi Hooks

Each ballpark infused Marine Corps spirit into its game day festivities with themed promotions, on-field ceremonies, and recognition of local veterans. Fans not only enjoyed an exciting game but also had the opportunity to learn more about the Marine Corps’ 250th anniversary and its ongoing mission to preserve history through the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

More Than a Game

The MiLB partnership gave us the opportunity to share the Marine Corps story with thousands of fans in a uniquely American way. Just as baseball connects generations around tradition, the Marine Corps connects generations of Marines who have stood watch for our nation since 1775.

For many attendees, these nights weren’t just about baseball—they were about pausing to honor the men and women who have worn the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, while looking forward to the next 250 years of Marine Corps history.

Continuing the Celebration

The MiLB takeover games were just one chapter in a yearlong effort to bring the Marine Corps 250th anniversary celebration to communities nationwide. From sporting events to concerts and commemorative programs, we continue to invite Americans everywhere to join us in honoring the Marines who have shaped our history.
