Marine 250 Takes Center Stage at Martinsville Speedway During the NASCAR Xfinity Series Marine Corps 250 Race
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation proudly presented the Marine Corps 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the historic Martinsville Speedway. The event, part of the 2025 celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, marked a thrilling convergence of American motorsport and military pride.
A Powerful Opening Tribute
The pre-race ceremonies honored the legacy and service of the Marine Corps in unforgettable ways. The national anthem was performed by Master Gunnery Sergeant Kevin Bennear from The President’s Own United States Marine Band, setting a reverent tone for the day. 🇺🇸
As Marine Band vocalist and concert moderator, Master Gunnery Sgt. Bennear is a soloist at White House State Dinners and the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ residence, and a featured performer in the annual musical productions of Washington’s Gridiron Club and Military Order of the Carabao. He performs regularly in the Washington, D.C., area and across the country during the band’s annual concert tour.
Overhead, fans looked to the sky as three MV-22 Ospreys from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 162 (VMM-162), the Golden Eagles, from Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina.
Following the anthem and flyover, MajGen Jason L. Morris, USMC, gave the iconic call: “Drivers, Start Your Engines!"
Celebrating Marine Pride Trackside
Serving as Grand Marshal, MajGen Morris represented the Marine Corps with pride, including participating in a live in-race interview on MRN Radio, where he spoke about the Marine 250 initiative and what this partnership means to Marines and veterans across the country.
Terri Campbell, a Gold Star mother, was honored as the event’s Honorary Starter, proudly waving the green flag to begin the race. Gold Star families have made an immeasurable sacrifice, and our country owes them a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.
The energy was electric throughout the race, as fans cheered on drivers and witnessed military pride infused into every aspect of the day—from Marine 250-branded pace cars to on-site Marine recruiters engaging with attendees.
A Victory to Remember
The checkered flag waved for Austin Hill, who claimed victory in the 2025 Marine Corps 250.
Hill was joined in Victory Lane by General Morris, Terri Campbell, and members of the Marine Corps, as a Marine 250 trophy topper was placed on his winning car to commemorate the moment.
Honoring the Legacy of the Corps
From the fanfare of the flyover to the roar of engines and heartfelt tributes, the Marine 250 at Martinsville delivered more than just a race—it delivered a message of unity, service, and respect for the Marines who have served our nation for 250 years.
We’re proud to partner with NASCAR and Martinsville Speedway to bring the Marine Corps’ story to new audiences in powerful and meaningful ways. Stay tuned for more Marine 250 moments throughout 2025!
