250 Years of Unwavering Loyalty to Our Nation
Across the country, communities came together to honor the 250th Marine Corps Birthday. Each celebration featured the traditional cake-cutting ceremony—first begun in 1921 by Gen. John A. Lejeune—symbolizing the passing of legacy and leadership from one generation of Marines to the next. Veterans, active duty Marines, local leaders, and supporters gathered to watch the oldest Marine pass the first slice of cake to the youngest, a powerful reminder of the Corps’ enduring heritage.
