Ramona Moncibais

During her service in the Marine Corps, from 1999 to 2004, Ramona proved herself as a top shooter during Marine Corps recruit training and later took on critical roles, including quality assurance for F-18 electronics and managing hazardous materials. After her service, she became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and established a counseling business in Pueblo, For the Love of Me, providing free support to veterans with PTSD despite challenges with insurance. 

She also collaborates with the American Legion Post 2 on a PTSD group and supports Hope thru Hooves, offering equine therapy to veterans. Ramona's impact and genuine desire to help people with mental health issues are unmatched in the Pueblo community.   

Ramona has maintained the HONOR to become the best version of herself, the COURAGE to put others before herself, and the COMMITMENT to use her skills to save one veteran at a time. Her unwavering dedication to duty is in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

Major Phillip D. Fernandez (Ret.)

Major Phillip D. Fernandez, USMC (Ret.), epitomizes the core values of the United States Marine Corps: honor, courage, and commitment. His distinguished career as a Naval Aviator and his unwavering dedication to service make him a paragon of military excellence and human compassion.

Courage and Valor:

As the operations officer for Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 266 (VMM-266), Major Fernandez played a pivotal role in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations. In October 2021, following a devastating earthquake in Haiti, he coordinated missions that provided critical aid to affected communities. His leadership ensured the effective deployment of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s vertical-lift and transport capabilities, directly contributing to the alleviation of suffering in Jeremie, Haiti.

Dedication and Commitment:

Major Fernandez’s commitment to his fellow Marines and the mission is unwavering. His service record reflects a steadfast dedication to duty, exemplifying the Marine Corps’ ethos of placing service above self. His leadership within VMM-266 not only advanced mission objectives but also fostered a culture of excellence and resilience among his peers and subordinates.

Beyond his professional achievements, Major Fernandez is renowned for his integrity and empathy. He approaches every individual with kindness and respect, embodying the principle that no one is a stranger. His ability to hold space for others, offering support and understanding, has endeared him to family, friends, and fellow Marines alike. It is for these reasons that he stands as my favorite Marine, a true exemplar of honor, courage, and commitment
