IT Leader & Committed Volunteer | Fremont, Nebraska

Jody Brott, a Nebraska native, enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1986. Initially an infantry radio operator, he would serve in information technology (IT) roles as both an enlisted Marine and reservist over the course of his 30-year Marine Corps career, retiring as an accomplished master gunnery sergeant in 2016.

In 1995, Brott began his civilian career, serving as a statistician and technology manager for Fremont, Nebraska’s Department of Utilities (DoU). Brott worked as a finance analyst, director of IT service management and quality, and finally as the director of IT portfolio management for DoU. Most notably, he led DoU’s transition from physical data centers to cloud-based infrastructure.

In 2018, Brott became the Global Head of IT at Rizing, a consulting firm focused on systems, applications, and products (SAP) in data processing.  Today, he is well-entrenched within Nebraska’s IT community, serving as an advisory council member for both the Nebraska IT Symposium and INTERFACE Omaha.

Volunteering has also been a calling for Brott. During his time at DoU, he volunteered with the Employee Speakers Bureau, offering demonstrations and tours to students visiting local water plants, even appearing as Sniffasaurus, the water plant’s dinosaur mascot. Additionally, Brott has volunteered annually with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation since 1994, helping to collect, sort, and deliver toys to children in need throughout Nebraska, including Omaha, Lincoln, and Fremont.

Through both his civilian career and volunteer work, Jody Brott has served as a shining example of Marine Corps service instilling lifelong skills and engendering dedication to supporting one’s community.
